drawing studio
The act of drawing is a fundamental human activity and a timeless means of communicating. Drawing connects what we see with how we think. It allows us to experiment with and explore the world within ourselves and around us. It is a medium through which we may learn to see anew. Drawing is the most direct and simple means we have to express ourselves visually – to design and to make art. Learned drawing skills and conventions form a fundamental visual language that is considered essential for all artists, designers and, indeed, for all of us living in an increasingly visual culture. Painting, Sculpture, Printmaking and Digital Imaging and Design media all have drawing skills as an essential requirement.

Life Drawing Course
DR-001
The human form has been an important subject in drawing today since the beginning of art itself and is still considered a fundamental artistic and creative activity. Many great artists have devoted their entire creative lives to painting, sculpting and drawing the human figure.
The life drawing classes will cater for all levels of artistic experience. Group discussions and constructive critical analysis of drawings will be important components of the course.
It is possible to teach and learn about visual elements and principles relevant to all aspects of art and design through different approaches to life drawing. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to develop individual style, competency and an appreciation of drawing and its expressive potential in a relaxed, non-competitive manner.

After registering it will be necessary to reserve a studio place but walk-in attendance is permitted provided there is space available. A Studio Collective representative will oversee each session and ensure that correct procedures are followed. Those who would like a critique of their Open Session drawings can arrange to attend an Art Portfolio Critique Session.
